Albion Online Launches First Content Update

Albion Online is still in closed beta, yet the game’s first content update has already gone live! Called Aurelius, the update brings quality of life improvements, new dungeons, new spells, and much more!

Quality of Life

With the Aurelius update come a whole bunch of usability and user interface improvements. These improvements include a forced combat mode, which makes sure there’ll be no more accidental gathering or looting while in combat. Players can now also move by right-clicking on a destination. You will now be able to get to your destination without any distractions.

The newly introduced Spell Ready Highlight will make sure you no longer miss your spells when they’re ready. More chat channels are implemented as well, such as the Guild recruiting and major languages channels. Last but not least, an automatic retry or cluster exit will save players a lot of running, as they don’t have to run in and out of the exit area anymore.

Content

Albion Online will have no shortage of dungeons with this update, as plenty of them are spread throughout Albion, populated by the Keepers, with some of them now having multiple entrances from different clusters.

Explore tree dungeon themes: Temple, Residence, and Mushroom Cave.

Encounter three new mobs: Knifelings, Marksmen, and Rainmakers.

Three new bosses waiting for bold adventurers: Seer Gallifax, Chieftain, and Old Grandpa.

New gateway system: certain gateway mobs spawn a portal to a deeper, more dangerous dungeon when killed.

You can read more about the new dungeon types here. To help battle the new mobs, ten new spells and abilities have been added, from a charging blade for swordfighters to an all-new AoE attack for the Crossword. There’s also a Christmas special, in which the cold-blooded Uncle Frost roams Albion’s dungeons and drops Christmas hats for those strong enough to best him! You can also start snowball fights in Albion Online’s festively illuminated cities and shoot fireworks.

New Albion Online Teaser Trailer

Sandbox Interactive unveiled their newest alpha test teaser video today for their upcoming sandbox cross-platform MMO Albion Online. “You are what you wear” is the main feature in Albion Online, and their latest trailer shows that off. Changing your outfit completely changes the way you play the game. Players can sign up for the closed beta test here if you are interested. Albion Online will go into beta in early 2014.

“Players will quickly need to learn that they cannot judge a player’s capabilities solely by what they’re wearing now,” said Yasmine, the Sanbox Interactive Community Manager. “Because equipment dictates what a player is capable of, assuming someone wearing simple farming gear is not a powerful player can be, as the video shows, quite a costly mistake!”

I won’t pop FFXIV Dark Arts at all

Well, later you will get Sole Survivor and Carve and Spit which really help with managing your mp between trash pulls. I generally try to enter each trash pull with close to full mp because then I know I have a comfortable FFXIV Gil zone to make I can unleash all of my initial skills for each combo setup without having to stop and start working towards my mp management. Once all of the mobs start getting to 25%> I won’t pop Dark Arts at all, unless I have to otherwise I run the risk of not having enough mp for the next pull. Plus, at my gear level even Soul Eater without Dark Arts heals decent. If I remember correctly I think I get about 1200-1300 or so without Dark Arts. I can’t remember at the moment, it may be slightly lower than that. But it is still enough to assist the healer and let me regenerate mp at the same time.

I see your point there. Come to think of it there have been times where I’ve screwed myself in mp and had to quickly pop some syphon strikes to get the mp back. I’ll try to hold off on DA when the trash gets low. But my next question is about abyssal drain. I just got this ability and I’m wondering what the ideal situation would be to use it. I know it increases enmity, but atm I’m not having any trouble establishing a good amount of enmity. And with DA it replenishes hp, but is it best saved for when I have more than 3 mobs on me? Is it even worth it to use it on bosses?

Abyssal drain in the new 24 man Weeping City for the trash is amazing highly undervalued as an AoE mob grabber helps in big AoE situations but you need Blood Price to keep it going or it’ll be too mana intensive. The HP gain is worth it since it can crit giving you a ton of HP back if used correctly with CDs your healer(s) will love you. I recommend using this for long distance AoE pulls where mobs are grouped together, remember target the small enemies with mobs that are bigger/huge as you’ll get all of them when targeting the smaller guys and only the target (big guy) if you hit them with it!
